Learning to invest with real prices and zero risk
Stocky is my own iOS app for people who want to learn investing before they risk real money. It uses real prices from Borsa Istanbul, crypto and NASDAQ, and a virtual budget the user chooses. I designed it with Claude Design, built it in SwiftUI in Xcode with Claude, Codex and Cursor, and run it on the App Store.

What I did
- Defined the product, the freemium model and the roadmap
- Designed the app end to end with AI, from onboarding to the paywall
- Built it in SwiftUI in Xcode with Claude, Codex and Cursor
- Built the landing page and run the launch and marketing
The challenge
Most people learn investing by losing money. Simulators exist, but they tend to use made-up prices, look like trading terminals and assume the user already knows the vocabulary. Many virtual investing apps also let people invest real money, which leaves users hesitant and confused. In Stocky every trade uses virtual money, so people can learn with zero losses. It had to feel safe for a beginner and still be honest about how markets move.
Approach and design decisions
Start in under a minute
Onboarding asks three questions: which market, how much virtual money (from ₺50,000 to ₺1,000,000, or a custom amount) and for how long (a week, a month, three months or open-ended). Each market runs as its own simulation with its own rules, so a crypto experiment never muddies a BIST portfolio.
Real prices, plain language
Prices come from real market data, delayed rather than live. Discover groups stocks by sector, with the day's popular names, gainers and losers on top. A stock page shows the chart, similar stocks and one clear action; the order sheet works in lots, has 10 to 100 percent shortcuts and shows the cost and the remaining balance before anything is confirmed.
From BIST to crypto and NASDAQ
Version 2.0 on 28 April 2026 added more than 100 crypto coins that trade around the clock and over 70 NASDAQ stocks. Simulations can run in several markets at once, and results can be shared as PDF or PNG.

Learning built in
The Education tab holds 15 short lessons, from what BIST is to how risk works, each ending with a quick check. A wrong answer explains why, so a lesson teaches even when the user gets it wrong.

Reasons to come back
Achievements, game modes, watchlists, price alerts and a daily summary notification turn practice into a habit. The account page shows performance in plain numbers: daily change, total trades and the most profitable position.
A free plan that is the whole app
The free plan is a complete simulator. Premium (₺49.99 a month or ₺499.99 a year) adds unlimited budgets, every duration, unlimited restarts and a custom budget. No account and no tracking: the App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected.
How I used AI
AI is part of the whole workflow: product research, copy in English and Turkish, design exploration and the SwiftUI code, from market data to the lessons and the paywall. I review every screen and every line before it ships. AI makes the first version fast; the decisions and the details are mine.
The outcome
A live iOS app with three markets, built-in lessons and a freemium model, plus a landing page at getstocky.net. Next on the roadmap: leagues, so friends can compete with the same budget.
